I have been having problems with my 1990 latley. Drivability problems, smelling of gas, like the car wants to stall when at a stop. I am suspecting there might be an O2 sensor problem. Not getting any codes. Is there any way to test the sensor? Thanks!
Best way is with a data logger than can monitor 02 voltage activity real time. The readings should QUICKLY cycle from about .1 to .9 mV. Each time the voltage crosses .450 the 02 count activity number should increase.
You can also connect a jumper to the ALDL and watch how quickly the SES dash light flashes. This'll tell you if the system is going closed loop. Insert the jumper into A&B, start the engine and watch how frequently the SES flashes.
