Default LT1 crankshaft balancer hub?

Is there a difference in the length of hubs on LT1s? I have a two bolt main LT1 that I converted to a four bolt main. The hub does not appear to be the same length as the one that is on the car now('96 LT w/auto). I put the correct timing cover on the engine and the reluctor ring for the crank sensor. I also milled off the end of the hub to allow for the thickness of the ring. It still measures to be about .250" to long. Before I trim any more off, I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this problem.

92 thru 95 hubs were all the same length, then 1996 thru 1997 LT1 and LT4 were shorter due to the crank sensor reluctor ring between the crank sprocket and the hub. The reluctor ring is about.100 thick making the earlier hubs that amount longer.

If it is off of a 2 bolt engine, then it came from a B-body or an F-car and I believe they had different hubs, and possibly different balancers as well. It makes sense that the Corvette hub would be the shortest of the 3, since it has to clear the front crossmember and still leave room for you to change the belt. I recently bought an ATI damper and hub assy, and had to specify Y-car (Corvette). It came with a spacer for non-reluctor years.

You are right about the reluctor thickness being .100", that's how much I trimmed of the end of the hub. But I think the hub I have is not for a "96 Corvette. It may be for a F body or another LT1 equiped passenger car. The question I need to get the answer is, can I trim more off of the hub I have or do I need to buy one for a '96 LT1 Vette?
I have measured to see if I can remove what I think is needed without bottoming out on the end of the crank. But what happens to the balancing of the hub at that point? The other option is to wait until I install the new engine and swap the hub and balancer. Duhhhhh.

Thanks!
