Hello folks....Does anyone have any thoughts on this? 2 days ago I washed under the hood of my vette and used high pressure on it....YES STUPID ME! It runs like crap now and I hooked up my obdII reader and it shot out p0300 only while ignition was on...motor not running. Then i decided to start the vette and I got a p0301 and a p0303 code...obvoiusly cylinder 1-3 are acting up. Upon letting the car "warm" up so to speak the cat convertor stunk up my garage and I noticed alot of condensation driping out of the tail pipes....I tried to shoot compressed air towards the plugs and front coil, but yet no luck....I am getting frustrated and absolutley do not want to take it to the garage for 2 guys looking at it and getting charged $500.00 for an easy fix....This is a simple matter but where do I start?
Id venture to say you got water in the optispark...
Hopefully.. it will dry out for you and all will be well... The other 300 codes if i recall are saying you were having misfires on those two cylinders... thus the cats smelling like crazy...
If it doesn't clear I would say you would need to pull the optispark... Not fun but you can do it in a couple hours, it requires pulling the waterpump and balancer...... I've had to do it a few times I had oil get into mine :P

Here's a crazy idea, but who knows, it might work...
Try buying one of those cheap $5-$10 aquarium air pumps and hook it up to the opti vent line that comes off the intake duct... Maybe a couple of days might be enough to dry it out...
It's low pressure so you shouldn't hurt anything...
How easy is it actually to get at the optispark? and how long in labour time wise would it take to clean all that out? and do I need any replacement gaskets? If so for which parts?

The vent line 'in' side it the hose off the intake duct in front of the throttle body... The 'out' side is on the driver's side intake under the injector covers... They're small vacuum lines, that's why I suggested trying an aquarium air pump... The hoses should fit the outlets on the pump and it's low pressure so it shouldn't hurt anything... I'd just undo the 'out' side of the vent also so you don't blow moisture into the intake...
I don't think a hair dryer is going to cut it, you need to dry out the inside of the cap...
As far as labor time, if you do it yourself, figure several hours the first time... You'll be fumbling around trying to get the hub off, the waterpump off, draining the cooling system, etc... It gets easier the second time, but it's a real bear the first time around...
Thanks....I thought aquarium air pumps only blow air? And not suck? I have a friend whom does Air conditioning in houses for central air....They use a VAC pump to suck out the moisture out of the line sets when installing....I wonder if this may work too? It actually has a meter on it as far as how much moisture is coming out.....
I am gonna try the aqua pump...I should read before I speak....thanks for the heads up...I drove her today and she did fine no back firing but she was mising But she is better than she was 3 days ago..does this make sense?, I kept her under 60 mph....I hope the pump works...
