Anybody know where you can get bulbs for the inst. cluster of an '89.
Found data on the internet saying they are fifferent then the previous years, and I have no idea where to find them.
Thanks,
I have some. In fact, I have too many. Got them at a junkyard from the tachs and speedos off other GM vehicles. I'm willing to sell some. Better yet, you can do the same thing like I did and rumage through those junkyards where there are GM vehicles. The ones originally on the digi dash are the original P.O.S. 882 which run hotter and could melt the soldering. I replaced mine and another girl's 84-89 C4 with 194 style bases and 194 style bulbs. Hope this helps.
If you have 882's they are not the same bulbs, allegedly.
I found an article written by the same author as the book peole buy to fix the damn things stating that 84-88 is the 882., 89 is a stanley 7073 or something like that:

would have been nice if he told us where to get them....
This is what I use for my 89 and also what I used in this chick's 88 today. They work perfectly. Just when first got my 89 and knew nothing about this problem, the stealership wanted to charge me $107.00 total for (4) 882 bulbs and (4) bulb bases plus an hour of labor ($85.00) to install and I'm like, "F*ck that!" I run to the junkyard and take all of these 194 bases and bulbs from other GM cars. They were in the clusters of some old wrecked F-bodies. Now I keep these bulbs and bases as spares. Can't beat freebees!! Good Luck!
If it's a 194 bulb, the guy claims n the article the only difference is the brightness.
Are your bulbs 882's or 194's?
I have found you can just buy 194 Xenons on the internet.
Its not much of a difference in brightness. Plus, I don't wanna risk the heat from the 882's desoldering my circuit boards and killing the LCD. Yeah, you can try the 194 xenons with the 194 bases. Junkyards are your friends.
