Default balancing

i bought a rotating assembly off of ebay and the people said it was a 1prm seal crank well it wasn't when i got it. so i called them trying to swap it out. they had no more of the "packages" that i bought and said i could send it back and get a rotating assembly with the correct crank but instead of the forged pistons they would be hypers, but for the same price. so pretty much i will be getting screwed out of money. i have the correct crank from a different project but i have no way of balancing the rotating assembly. but the person i talked to who i bought the assembly from said that i was crazy not to balance it(i have no way of balancing it without driving at least 2.5 hours one way) but my reliable car is the one that needs to be rebuilt. so i need to know if you HAVE to balance all rotating assemblies. i am guessing all the parts have been matched but not to my crank. its going to be a stock compression ratio and pretty much the rest of the motor, just .030 over.

It sounds like you will be putting together a lot of unknown pieces. My advice would be to have it balanced including the damper and flywheel. If all the pieces were stock chevy parts then you could prolly skip the balancing and take your chances. It is no fun taking a engine back out and tearing it down just for balancing. You could say it's false economy. Your machinist will be able to balance it, or send it out to have it done. Don't cut a corner now!

well he didn't have my flywheel or dampner so i don't see how it can be "balanced" to what i need anyway.

A Different view: Send it back and get the hypers. For a DD you will never know the difference unless you are pushing 450 horses and a 150 shot of giggle gas.
