An other software work to program a pocket programmer II??
So I go to use my PP2 for the first time in a while today, and oops.. you upgraded your OS, so PP2 will no longer work.
I call up the software manufacturer, and oops, Microsoft REALLY messsed some stuff up with the parallel port in a recent XP security update, so you have to spend $50 to buy an update to our software.
WTF? Talk about an arcane policy. I looked into what new "features" I would get with the new sofware- none, except the fact that it works with XP SP2. Great.
So, is there any other software out there that works with XP SP2 to program a pocket programmer II?

I have an old version (1.42). It says it works on XP, but there was an update to XP that broke it. it looks like version 1.72 fixed this particular problem, but they want me to pay $50.00 to get it working again
. Since when do hardware places charge you 1/3 the cost of the hardware itself for updated drivers???
The problem is that the software will not see the parallel port. The guy I spoke with on the phone, explained that this problem was fixed with something like version 1.72.

That is pretty cheezy. I take it you got that from Xtronics's help line?
They've always just given me the new updates.
