Default static cling numbers for auto x

Anyone have experience with static cling numbers for autocross? Do you have a special technique to apply them and keep them stuck? Is there a wrong kind to get? Do they wear out easily?

Yes, not personally but see below.

Yes, be sure to apply the numbers to a clean car, lightly spritz the area where you want to apply the numbers with water then put the number on trying to force as much water out from under it as possible (kinda like a suction cup), this seems to work better than just applying the numbers without water.

Yes, but the web site that is always recommended is www.solotime.com (here are the Static Cling and Reusable Sticky numbers).

I'm not sure how long they should last, I would expect at least a season if you take care of them (storing them in a folder with something between the numbers would count as 'taking care of them').

I went another direction with my numbers, at the direction of another forum member, I bought a box of "Repositionable Bumper Sticker" sheets from Office Depot and cut out my number using an X-acto blade. It was like $10 for 10 sheets, my first set lasted me about a half season.

P.S. This question would be answered faster in the Autocross and Roadrace section as the majority of C4ers don't autocross.

you can also use plastic shelf liners that "stick" based on the same principle.
