Default Procharger Driving Tips

How bout some tips to get the most out of my procharger....
96' LT4, forged, stroked, great engine.
DS1 Procharger feeding the baby.
Don't know motor specs, but with charger running comfortably over 510hp on a 6 rib(can you say belt slippage?). Note that this is my first high hp car, and I'll admit, I drive like a wuss because I'm afraid of two things, a ticket(I'm 22), and I lose traction everytime I get boost over 4 psi. Thanks for your ideas in advance
-Dave

510 flywheel hp is nothing to fears about. When my old SC 383LT1 combo made 544rwhp 598rwt at just only 4600rpm it pull extremely hard and I love it when I am on the expressway, and there is a straight road ahead I almost always make a quick WOT blast and let off. It felt so good on how the car pull.

Atleast it sounds like you are more level headed about it than I would have been at 22. At 22 that car would have killed me. Or vise versa. Two things that I can think of, hopefully they will help. Drive the car as often as possible - become one with your car and you will know what it is going to do before it does it. Remember to be smooth with the the throttle. If those two things don't help you, then it is imperative that you give me the car. lol. Good luck with your "problem"....

Thanks for the tips. It's just frustrating that I'm dialing in huge numbers, (I'm at 5200 above sea level, so corrected I'm at 550 something) and I can't even launch the car properly. I hear ya on driving it all the time, it is my second car and my daily (grand cherokee) handles the rush hour traffic, but I try to get in at least every day for a short cruise. I did learn
how to "turn" with the throttle, while it is most likely the fast track to new tires, I like to burn the rubber (going slow mind you) around the corners and carve out the turn with the back spining

woah, who did you steal that beast from?!

I highly suggest sparing no expense on wheels and tires

I also suggest turning the boost down untill you correct the belt slippage

use the ASR

drive it more often

get it on a racetrack ASAP!!!!!!!!

Dave, can you send me some good engine and procharger PICS of your Corvette? I am considering installing one on my 383 LT-4 and would like to see what it will look like. Also include pics of the intercooler set up if yours has one.
Thanks, Michael

It was a traction limited run on street tires on a 95 degree day in the summer. I was running 10 PSI of boost at that time with a cogged belt driven Vortec S trim. I didn't have an intercooler at that time and only had 25 degrees of timing in the maps. Hp can be addicting, I am in the process of building another LT4 with larger heads, bigger cam and a Vortec T trim blower making 14 PSI of boost. This time I am adding alky/water intercooling to the mix in hopes of 650+ RWHP. The engine is basically done, I just got the cam in from Crane today so all I have to do is to disassemble the AFR heads to double check them and bolt the rest of the engine together.

Yes absolutely on the pics. I just need the software for my digicam to agree with my computer and I have a bunch of pics to show. I'm doing the a/c delete on my car right now so by sunday I should have some good engine bay pics.
