I have a persistent leak from the front section of my 96 LT1 automatic transmission pan gasket. Replaced the gasket with new twice (installed dry-without any glue, silicone, etc), cleaned it thoroughly, made sure the pan itself wasn't warped, etc. Now thinking of either using 2 gaskets, and/or some form of sealer---any recommendations regarding permatex aircraft; RTV, ?? Car is up on jack stands now.
Don't use 2 gaskets, you'll probably warp your pan. Instead use a single gasket and use Permatex Hi-Tack on both sides of it. but first, clean the trans and pan surfaces throughly with laquer thinner followed by brake cleaner.
Thanks for the help. I thought 2 gaskets would be kinda funky anyway, and that permatex was more professional...just didn't know if there was something special used on Trans. Does anyone know if there is a difference between 4L60 and 4L60E?

Although nothing is the common recommendation for pan gaskets, sometimes you get a problem child and Hi Tack is a good product in these cases. Use lightly, let it get tacky before assembly and torque to spec, don't over tighten. Recheck after a little running and then once in a while when under the car.
I had a problem getting my trans to seal up. I tried cork and rubber gaskets, but what I found out was the the cork gasket was compressing after I torqued the bolts. I would get the torque after I noticed fluid on my driveway. I would end up retorqueing and on and on. Make sure you haven't pulled the holes on the pan out of shape. YOu might want to take a ball peen hammer and tap the holes back down to flatten them out if you pulled them. Also make sure didn't overfill the trans. I also had that problem. While I've since got the leak on the Vette fixed and rebuilt the 700r4 in my Blazer and my friends blazer and both of those trannies don't leak.
Good luck.
P.S. I used cork gaskets on both of the Blazers and put them on dry.
