Default Back from track

Before we went to the track today, we did some testing on the street and car pull scary fast and blow out the 90 degree thick rubber coupler. It blow out like some one slit it, were heard sound like a shot gun. We put in a new reinforced piece coupler. Also I think we did push the Fepro head gasket because after that street testing we got coolant light coming on and loosing coolant We stop by gas station and get 2 gallon of coolant to filll it up. Got to the track Rick made 2 pass and I made 1 pass. Also the throttle body capped niple got blow out and lost the rubber cap. So we are loosing boost for the throttle body niple are not capped. We were only manage to run. The way the car pull during street test it was scary fast but at the track it pull hard but did not go as fast as we expected at the same time it eating coolant, fill it up and coolant got low. I got to get some steel type gasket.

Rick has the video he will post later

1st pass
r/t .971
60' 2.239
1/4 12.231 @ 121.91

2nd pass
r/t .645
60' 2.268
1/4 12.537 @ 121.44

me? I red lighted 14.2 @ 120mph

I hope that you get all of your "weak links" fixed before something really bad happens. Sounds like she has more in her.
Thanks for keeping us updated.

I like the MPH. It indicate sthat you are making decxent power. Wait till you see 60' times in the 2.7 - 3.3 range, and then you will know that you have issues with hooking up (I know, those were my std 60"s ~2 yrs ago).

Keep us posted, I want to see MPH in the mid 140s. Those kinds of speed can be fun in the quarter.

Bruce! tie wraps man tie wraps...lol what boost level were you running? and was that cap missing during the runs? 12.2's is not bad as a shake down run, and 121 is a nice MPH.. I would venture in that trip you around 450 RWHP, and i know you guys will be turnin up the boost soon enough after the injectors get there.. BIG thumbs up for getting her done!! keep us posted on the progress and tuning!

I know I know man. I will try to do better next time.
Those 2 pass Rick and I made are running with the throttle niple uncapped and I believed boost is around 8psi of boost along with bad head gasket because it is loosing coolant and loosing boost

All I know is before we went to the track and we gone out for a test drive and the car is pulling scary fast at 12psi of boost. guys wait until I post the blow out 90 degree thick rubber coupler. You will not believe until you see it. I took pic of it but I left the camara at Rick' house. I will post the pic over the weekend. Check back to see the nasty pic.

ps. When we did street testing and it boost 12psi, Rick and I strongly feels that we are expecting to see 11.5 @130+mph but did not make it. Will try again soon after we straight out the headgasket and misc.

I think Rick needs a few lessons too, 2.2 60' times??? You must learn patience young grasshopper, and develope a feather foot. You should be pulling 1.8's with that car on street tires, maybe a few 1.7's. That's almost a half second faster right there.

Any clue why the head gasket is starting to go?? Do you think turning the timing back a few degrees will help? Are you thinking of going with some Cometics or sticking with the Felpros?

Do you guys have some datalogs of the track? I figured you'd have the laptop hooked up for sure. It'd be nice to know exactly how much boost you were running and such. I'd love to see one if you've got something like that.

What, tell me are you chicken?? Right now Rick is trying to finishing up the interior carpet etc. After we are going to pull the heads and replace Fepro head Gasket and go with MLS gasket.
Cometic muti layer steel gasket. We are also going with 16 injector setup with 034EFI. We will be running stock 22s injector on the primary and 50s injector on the secondary that means we will cranking up the boost.

why the 16 injectors instead of the larger ones with a conversion box??

Where are you going to put the extra 8 injectors??

Bruce, what is the I.D. of that coupler. I may have one that would work well on your car. These are 5 layer. Post a picture if possible.

Mike
The 90 degree rubber coupler is 4".5 x 3" that is a very odd size.

Brian
The 8 additional injector was Rick suggested but I still don't have exactly detail on how he is going to mount it. When I see him this weekend I will find out how. I think the simple way is to go with a large injector and the box.

I'd also be interested in what you're using to control these injectors. I've been reading some stuff on some other board and there's lots of interesting ways to do stuff and get cheap controllers for things.

I think I would still opt for the box and low z injectors as the tuneability would be alot simpler with 8 rather then 16 injectors and a simple change for weather might become a nightmare! but then again 16 injectors would be pretty cool and definately a conversation point on the car!

I just came back from Rick's house. We talk about the 16 injector setup. After much talk I decided on the 16 injector route. When we are done I will post pic of it. The factory ecm will control the the 22s injector and 034efi box will control the 50s as a secondary fuel system. It certainly will be unique setup. If that is not enough fuel than we will be running two set of 50s that will be plentiful of fuel requirement.

A side from this. Rick has been working on my car, interior works and plumbing all the a/c system to the water tank. Wow, I am pleased with the interior work that Rick has done. My car originally have a tan/beige interior. Now the interior is all Black, roll bar painted black. He also convert my R12 a/c to a R134. Job well done Rick.
