Default Need Rear Tie Rods and Toe Link

Anyone have a good source for rear Tie Rod end and the tow link? I was out running around yesterday when it felt like the rear end was sliding out from under me in a turn. I pulled over the checked the car and I am able to get the drivers side rear tire to move when I grab it at the 9 and 3 and push\pull. I figure it has to be either the bearing hub ro the tir rods. Since I replaced the bearling hubs about 3 months ago I don't think it's them.

I babyed her home last night. (20 minute ride there took me an hour to get back) Pulled her into the garage last night with a tear in my eye.

I know not good to post to my own message.. But, I am having trouble finding the tie rod ends and tow link for the back of my 89. Even called Corvettes of Dallas and he is having trouble finding them.

Questions;

1. Are the tie rod ends the same as in front?

2. any one have a source for a set?

The toe link is notoriously expensive from Ecklers, MAD, CC, etc.

Here's where to get a good, OEM quality link for MUCH less. I'm using the same one for a couple of years with no problems.

The tie rod ends are NOT the same as the front. They are available from Corvette Central for $44.00 each. Put Part # 584119 into the seach box.

Now....since the play is at 9 and 3, have you checked the rear control arm bushings? I regularly post this pic, because it shows how whipped my bushings were. I had an INCREDIBLE amount of play before fixing this little issue

Questions;

1. Are the tie rod ends the same as in front?

Ans. Yes/No the taper end is the same. However the front uses a male end, while the rear is a female end.

2. Anyone have a source for a set?

Ans. My local Car Quest found a set in their "Hard To Find" parts catalog. I paid almost 60 bucks a pop!! I found the toe link assembly without rod ends on Ebay, new for 59 bucks. see z11pacer 's store

Thanks for the links... I orderd the parts today after I conformed that it was in fact the Tie Rod end. Not much movement... Only a little less than a half inch! DOH!

You're certainly welcome. These avoid the dreaded "Corvette Tax".

Only half an inch...?? That's it? That should only throw your toe out by about.....oh.....10 degrees at the worst

If it was that bad, you will notice a world of improvement in handling when you fix it. Don't forget to have it aligned when you're done.

Well, I was going to do the bug eyed smiley but for some reason about half the time I am trying to post the little menu of the guys don't show up.

I will get her aligned as soon as I am done but she may be up on stands for a while. I figured that if she was going to be out of service for a while waiting on parts and such that I would just toss her up into all 4 jack stands. That way I can start on this little project.

Just got them in yesterday. I also have some Random Tech Cats being delivered tomorrow as well as a set of cut-outs with the electric valves on them. Now I amd just trying to figure out if I want the Magnaflows, Flowmaster Delta 40s, or the Flowmaster 50s. From what I have seen on the web sites I am leaning towards the Delta 40s.

Hey, since you are the guy with the links this week, where can I get a heated O2 sensor for the girl?

Funny how projects snowball, isn't it? Replacing a creaking front swaybar bushing lead to a full suspension rebuild for me.

I'm not using a heated O2 sensor, but I know Summit Racing does sell them. Here's a link.

Have fun with those headers....Those should free up a few stuck ponies....
