My electric lock actuator just makes a clicking sound when I hit the open hatch button. Could this be a bad part or what? How can I open the hatch manually?? Thanks!
There is a cable release that is hidden behind the carpet right where the handle is for the security screen. It should be about 2-3" to the left of the black plastic handle as you look at it, Just pull the seamed part of the carpet down and you should see a thin piece of wire. Pull it towards you and the hatch will open.
Once the hatch is open, you can remove the trim and replace the hatch release assembly.
My experience, is that if it clicks, it unlatches. The gas supports may be shot and the hatch just doesn't rise up. Or the glass may be stuck to the weather stripping. Usually, if you tug on the hatch when the button is pushed, it will come up.

I just went thru this last week. Once you get it open, lock it with a screwdriver and try to activate it again. If it pops then it's functioning and you need to look at the seal, struts etc. If it DOES NOT pop (the noise u may be hearing is the relay clicking) then most likely the actuator itself is bad. I found one on ebay for like $15.
I found the cable guys. Thanks. It is deffinately not the shocks because they are less than a year old, and the molding is not the problem either. When I said it just clicked, I don't mean the loud click when it unlocks the hatch. I mean a very lite click. It is probably the actuator for the hatch to release it. I will have to fix it after I come back from my 5 month deployment. Thanks again for you guys telling me about the cable.
