OK,
I finally have all the parts to do my Z06 front brake upgrade this weekend !!!
I have read people changing the brake bias spring to help get the rears a little more into the game.
How exactly do you install this?
Do you have to pull the master cylinder apart and bleed the whole system??
Where is a good place to order one from?
I see Mid America has one for $20.
I have done it. When I replaced the Master Cylinder, I installed the spring.
If you look at the master cylinder - notice that it has two cylinders. One is the typical plunger, the other houses the front to rear proportioning valve.
This second cylinder is where the bias spring is located. First - pull off the white screw in sensor from the side, second - remove the cap at the end of the cylinder.
You will now remove a small cylinder that is located in this second bore.
I used a small J hook. The only thing holding it in is the rubber o-rings. It takes about 10 pounds worth of pull to get it out.
Once it's out - you'll need a small pair of snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring. You can see the spring behind the snap ring. The spring will come flying out as soon as you remove the tension on the snap ring.
Insert the new softer spring. The trickiest part is getting that snap ring back in.
Then re-install the cap and sensor.
You're done.
It made a noticable difference in the way the car stops.
