I want to join the 12 seconds, a few weeks ago I when to the track and a Honda Civic drag my vette through the 1/4 as soon as the green light came on. The civic only ran 13.8s while my vette (86) went 14.2s I almost cried.

just remember he drives home in a civic you drive home in a vette
Amen to THAT! But you are right, it sucks our sexy, swoopy cars typically run mid-14's while so many other clunkers are quicker. The good news is, the answers are out there in obsolete, but powerful technology! That is why there is so much posting about getting our C4's into the 12's or better. It is relatively easy, it just costs money.
I have a 69 GS buick that runs 12.3s on plain radials tires and a S-15 pickup that WAS running 12.2s I pulled the 350 out and brought the vette to put the engine in, it has Dart iron eagle 180 heads that been ported to flow 250 intake and 190 on exhaust it a factory roller block, I redid the bottom of the block, with a new crank and I had to pull the cam out because it was too big for the cpu.I order a hotcam today from summit, if this don't run in the 12s I will BURN it then call the junkman.

But that Civic will get there faster.
Don't sweat it. For that guy to get a Civic in the 13s took some work. Just put a bottle on your vette. In the end, don't get too worked over who or what is faster than you because there is always some who is.
I made an air pump eliminater and hooker header with y pipe and 2 1/2 rear pipe and flowmaster mufflers and K&N filter it has 2.59 gears But I just brought a 3.07 rear last weekend. I also have some SLP runners laying around and i brought a LT1 intake to convert
Randy,
I had a bottle on the S15 and only tried it twice, its for a holley carb I want to try EFI, but if I can't get it to run I'll throw the carb on and run in the 11s

It's just the way you look at it....that honda was racing the legend.....it made have won a race but it could never beat the car......vettes never need to prove anything...it is everybody else's job to do that!!! But with that said....a 14 second vette means it's time for a manicure and makeover!! You got to take her out on the town and show her a good time..port and polish her head ,treat her to some more air...header in the right stuff..roller rock her. then loosen up man let her dance with another cam....and let drink the juice...in the nit-we-trous. And you'll love her again and not want to ever leave her!!
...
I brought the vette with the intetion to race it, I know it wasn't quick but I fell in love with driving it.That was why I brought an 86 to tear it apart and make it run. I like the corvette challenge at Etown.
Randy,
Look in my gallery for some pics of the Summit showroom I think one of the pictures shows exactly what you need.OOps guess not gonna have to upload the rest of my pics first check tomorrow.

I used to like Hondas and got my street/strip CRX to the mid 11's @ 130+ mph. A turbo, a built Honda CRV motor helped a lot, plus the countless hours of tuning I had a headache with just about everyday. Plus blood, sweat and tears. The really bad thing about it is I spent about 15 times the value of the car, around $15K. Its not really that cost effective to race old Hondas, especially when stuff like axles and trannies break. Trust me I went through both like water.
Now that I got the Vette, I feel like I have graduated from 4 cylinder import car racing. Time to hang out with the big boys and grown men!
Getting in the 12's takes some work but it is well worth it. The only problem is that you'll probably be like me and once you get in the 12's you won't be satisfied and you'll want 11's, and then some spray. The addiction never ends!

Absolutely!! My previous car ran 11.30s. I sold it and bought the vettes with the goal of getting it in the 12s. Now that is done . . . hmm N20??
