Default Clogged front cats?

I have my y-pipe off, is there any simple way to tell if the front cats are clogged?

tap them with a rubber hammer...

then beat the hell out of them and gut them. They are nothing but exhaust restrictors.

Sure, they help at cold start, but within 3 miles, they are done. Just make sure the main cat is working fine and you will be ok.

Dont even worry about them being clogged, gut them anyway. Preferably you would cut them out and put a pipe in.

Eliminate the pre-cats and install a high flow, three stage main.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good cat that bolts in the stock location?

Default Pre cats

I cut my y-pipe right behind the cats and used a hammer and chisel to try and gut them. (Wear a mask, that dust is terrible) Borrowed a friends pneumatic chisel and had them both gutted in minutes. Then had the pipes rewelded. Sounds a little deeper now and still passed Az emissions.
