Default Temp question

88 auto,bolt on HP.
Temp range 180-225

I'm running hypertech thermo chip. I have a 180 deg. temp at idle she will stay at 180-189. out driving around the past couple days in traffic and on the way home lastnight she was getting 200-225. Fan is wired on all the time. (wiring problem), shroud area is clear, full new fluid, overflow New pressure cap 16lbs, all new hoses, found no sign of leak. outside temp in the high 60's

she is not overheating just running hot. I don't have a base line temp with all the winter bolt-ons. I was thinking it might be the ADVANCED TIMING from the chip?
what should a normal temp range be?

PS. the oil temp was at about 240

Thanks, Jeff

With my 160deg T-stat and fans wired for it, my coolant temps climbed to 200deg after running the twisties in 2nd gear for a while in 75-80deg air. Then, after some "normal" driving temps dropped to the usual 165deg range.

If you haven't been driving agressively for extended periods you might verify that the T-stat still opens at the 180deg setpoint. It wouldn't hurt to verify base timing too.

I've watch it warm up and the guage goes to about 188 then it drops to 180-185 then after running it on the street I see 200's

Hey Sniper, sorry you haven't found that wiring problem yet-you'll be much happier when you do. As far as your temps go-they sound about right to me-the thermostat won't control what temp the engine runs at-
You did mention new hoses etc. Did you burp the system?
As far as timing goes-what are you running-I think I'm at 8 degrees.
