Dead Battery / Interior Light Problem (need help fast)
Ok this weekend I had my stereo installed . While they were in there i saw that the light under the dash had been unplugged so i asked him to plug it in and it turned on, good, i thought. So 2 nights ago i notice that the lights stayed on after i got out of the car. well after pushing every button in the door and having no luck i remembered that they might turn off after time. so i went inside and asked my girlfriend to look in the car when she came over that night. she did and the lights were off. The lights also stay on while I am driving
Fast-forward to today, go out to the car put in the key: nothing
no charge at all
so I got it jumped and took it to get the battery tested, they said it was good but low charge - well no ****
i have always had problems with the 'door ajar' light and guess the guy before me did too so he just unhooked the lights under the dash
but I like the lights and want them to work when they are supposed to
It could be the switch on the door pillar is not being depressed far enough.
Try taping a piece of shim on the door front where it contacts the switch prong.
First find out which is the problem switch: open the door, start the engine and manually depress the switch. If that doesn't kill the lights, try the other door switch.
you are talking about the switch on the body of the car right?
b/c there are also 2 on the door that dont seem to do anything
The switch is on the door. It's held on by two small screws and sometimes the center gets pushed in. A new switch will appear to resemble a mushroom, or a pancake on a pin. Most times the pin gets pusehed in.
