I had a few blue LEDs so I decided to change the color of the back lighting in the car. I used 5 LEDs for the door ajar light (hard to see, but there are 5) and I replaced low glow light in the door that is on when the lights are on to illuminate the door handle. (hard to see in the pictures) I also replaced some of the button/instrument lighting.
3mm and 5mm 'true blue' color. I soldered a resistor to the LED and replaced the bulbs with the LED/resistor. For the 5 leds in a row, I soldered everything to a piece of circuit board and gluded the board inplace of long bulb.
Sounds complicated. Is that something you pick up at Radio Shack or the auto parts store or?
I did the same thing with my 98 Z28 about 3 years ago. I got the LED lights at Ovation which is a audio/video store and the resisters at Radio Shack. Not hard to do at all at least on the Z. I can't imagine it to be that rough on the Vette.
I bought he LEDs off of Ebay. I bought several hundred from a guy in Hong Kong. Much cheaper then Radio Shack. He includes the resistors with the LED for .01 per resistor.
Looks good! I put some orange LED foot lights in last year, and some red gill lights on a switch. I like them a lot and have been thinking about other places to put them.
I think LED brake lights would look pretty nice too
They actually look like *** on C4s with the round taillights unless a lot of reflectors are used. You end up with pinpoints of lights which looks real funny.
The 5 LEDs turn on when the door is opened and off when the door is closed. With the head lights on a tiny light turns on to allow you to see the door handle. I swaped out that little bulb with a 3mm LED. NOw there is a soft blue glow instead of the stock amber. 3rd picture from the top....
I didn't add any additional lighting to the car. I just replaced bulbs with LEDs...

I agree. I;m thinking about using 30 or 40 small LEDs so it fills up the lens. I'm going to try to fit as many as I can.
i remember someone on here doing that before. they posted pics, but i can't remember who it was. they used lots of leds in the shape of circle. i thought it looked pretty good. then again it could have been in a c3 member...
anyhow, post some pics of it after you get it done if you decide to do it
