Default guys with N20 step inside!

Ok i am about to buy a NOS wet kit... I am eventually getting all busers n bells for it aka.... purge, remote opener, fuel shut off, progressive set up NGKs etc etc....

The questions are.... all about legality and what if....

the car is insured in my dads name aslo as a pleasure vehicle aka cant put more than 7500 miles a yr on it.
my dad doesnt really want me to get N20 because hes afraid of liability.

I know you cant have bottle with in reach so I am going to build a metal box and mount it in the back... with remote opener..

1. what would a cop do if they pulled me over and saw that I had it on the off chance? could they make me unscrew the box?
2. what if I got in a wreck and they found the nitrous.. car is insured in my dads name..
3. what can I do to take precautions? or avoid tickets/lawsuits.
4. whats the worst case scenario?

thanks your friend

Well i have found that when i got pulled over (denver colorado) the cops saw the bottle and asked if it was hooked up? i said nope (it was) and he looked it over (not in detail) and asked if i had the paper work for it on making it legal? i found out later NOS has something that you can buy to make it legal in your car? But i said i didnt have the papers with me but i have it for the track and i do not use it on the street as it would not make sense as i would not get traction ofcourse he just laughed and then after running my plates and ID he asked how fast is it and blah blah blah...but he was cool

I have had it in my passenger seat and a cop flipped out on me and said i needed to have it hooked up and mounted...so i said ok

So i think if you explain it is for show, or the track, or it is empty or not hooked up they dont really care due to the fact they already have you pulled over!

But i would think if you where out running the cops and crashed and they found the bottle was hooked up then you better have some good excuses

All in all good experience!

Man, move the hell out of that state. Spray isn't illegal here. That's about like front plates, useless!

The bottom line is ,if it is illigal in your state, and you are out running a cop and are caught.
YOu will go to jail as a fellon and you will also be charged with intent to evade.
They could charge you with that count ,on any speeding ticket weather you were using it or no,if it is hooked up to the car.
If you were in an accident and the bottle was hooked up they could throw the book at you.
If you have the bottle disconected and are in an accident then you can just say you were transporting it.
If secured then you just say I did not want it rolling around in the vhl.

Call your local DMV and ask them to send you the information on N20 use in your state/county/city.

I just successfully fought some nitrous legislation in my state with the help of SEMA; one of the state's that has nitrous laws with "good" language in it is Georgia. We had ours replicate Georgia's (and nine other states laws, all with language drafted by SEMA); it allows for "dual-purpose" vehicles, those that are used both on the street and for weekends at the races. As the result of a knee-jerk reaction to a street-racing accident (that really had nothing to do with nitrous) a local legislator trying on some "feel-good" law rammed it through our State House... I, and a couple of others in the motorsports business with SEMA's help, stopped it. It would COMPLETELY forbid N2O on ANY street driven vehicle, you couldn't have ANYTHING on it... Now we've got it where you can have N2O on the car but the feed line from the bottle has to be disconnected (they make quick disconnects btw, ). If you are caught street racing with a working N2O system, the fines are greatly increased. This mimics Georgia's recently enacted laws. So, no problem with insurance or liability and as long as the feed line is disconnected you can have the system on your car and the bottle in there as well...
