OK I love my 95 convertible. The classy polo green and saddle interior are
sporting but subdued... The love affair is starting to get a little rocky though cause of the C4 shake that occurrs whenever we hit a little bump in the road. Does anyone have experience with the different aftermarket products available to stiffen the frame? In particular the X brace underneath , the crossbar that fits behind the seats, and the strut brace connecting the shock towers underhood? What will each one do to improve the ride? In what order would you rate them for most bang for the buck?
My only other gripe is the wind whipping my hat off when the top is down! Any suggestions for wind?
Thanks,
Chunk

hmmmm.... aren't sun and wind the whole point of owning a convertible? I know I love both from my '92. In any case, here's a product that purports to cut wind in the cockpit, but I don't know how well it works.
i also have a 95 vert.. red with red int.. love my car too.. i have the X under the car on the frame.. i still have some shuddering but its not that bad.. i didnt put it on so i dont know what it was like before. i dont know anything about the others u asked about.. as far as the wind....dont wear a hat... i LOVE the air going about 70... thats the whole idea of the top down...
I believe you already have the "X" brace since you have a vert. I have the RD Camber Brace on my coupe and it helps with frame flexing in turns as does the Cross Bar for the upper body. If you are having "bouncing and shuttering" over bumps, I'd start looking at suspension parts like shocks. How many miles are on your vert and do you have the original Bilsteins?
I was about to say the same thing, the aftermarket x brace is a copy
of the one that came stock on your 'vert"
- Outer tie rod ends,
- blown shock,
- bad lower ball joints
are what I would check in that order.
Check to see that someone did not remove the stock x brace (perhaps to
clear an aftermarket exhaust?)
Once the front end is verified ok adding a cambe brace will make
a noticeable difference. IF you are still not happy then
realize the C4 is, was, and always will be a flexable flyer. Start
looking at C5 with the backbone frame.
If you love Corvettes and want to stick with one then don't ever test drive a Z4 or 330ci Convertible.
Assuming nothing is broken, just be glad you get to drive a '95, not an '84 -- or worse yet: once got to drive a friend's '63 Z06 (with an L88, but that's another story) -- concrete tires solidly welded to the frame. Rough ride to say the least. But what a blast! Our '90 is probably just as rough a ride as your '95, but my wife loves it over the ride, noise and floor heat of our '73. (But we get more waves in the '73 -- even from C5 guys.)
