Default Competition Time!

Here we go, a little competition for everyone. My 1990 convert and I are going to the strip for the first time this week end, lets see if anybody can guess the numbers!
To help you out here's more about the car;
1990 L98 6speed, FX3, 3.33 axle, K & N air cleaner with open lid, throttle body air foil, air pump removed, frizbee removed, 160 degree thermostat, hypertech powerstat chip, long tube headers, cats deleted, 2 1/2 twin straight through exhaust with free flowing mufflers, road tyres (Kumho Ecsta 712)
Winner gets free smilie and the knowledge the know their Corvettes!
p.s. going to try it with and without the chip to see if it really makes a difference, I'll let you know!

First time to the track....

14.4-14.6 ET (R/T 1.500 ) Don't worry the R/T will get better with more seat time.

With auto around 14.1s

Where is the track located, ie what roughly is the elevation. You would be much quicker at Englishtown, NJ than say in Denver, CO.

With a decent DA I will put my money on mid to low 13s.

Default Location

Location of the strip is in North Yorkshire, England! Old WW2 bomber base runway, elevation I wouldn't think was much over 500ft!
How much extra ooommmphh!! will I get by giving it a really good polish and shine before I go??

Default Don't launch too hard

Don't launch too hard. My 90 liked 1850 with street tires and good air. It only had a little intake and exhaust work and ran a 1.86 60' and 13.89 was its best time through the trap. So...That's my guess.

2.7 60ft? yeah...work on that launch

for comparison, on the same tires, with my "205hp" crossfire, i managed 2.05 60'ft and a 14.688 @ 92.46mph

2.7? You're supposed to do your burnout before the race.

How many runs did you get in? Also, every tenth lost in the 60ft is about 2 or 3 tenths in the 1/4 ET.

That's a good mph for an L98 considering the times. Get it to stick and you'll be hunting 13's soon

my 91 ran a 13.9@100 and it was bone stock. water temp was pretty high and it was a hot and humid st. louis day. i guess some cars just run better than others.

p.s. when i ran mine at the track i left it in o/d as well

Hahahahaha. Yup, a bit more practice in the launch I'd say. You should be able to clip .5 off the 60' to, say, 2.2's. You are a good candidate for drag radials

Default 0-60 mph

Forgot to mention, there was a 0 to 60 mph comp on the track same day and the Vette recorded a 0 to 60 mph of 5.7 secs, I thought that was quite good, opinions?
