Just for a cam intall I was quoted $1700 dollars for labor only. All they would garantee was that the cam would be installed right. I would have to get a tune some where else. Needless to say I am in the middle of doing it myself. If you have general knowledge of engines and some paitence than I say go for it. It is a great way to know your car better and get some good experience.
$490 from Sam Taylor Chevy in Florida last summer. I'm doing the install right now. The hardest part is getting the damper and hub off the crank. I'm also doing some "custom engineering" because I changed the timing chain set to a Cloyes Double Roller set but am adapting it to work with the older opti design. Should be fun!
I say well worth it as long as you plan on complimenting it with headers and decent exhaust, you should be well into the 12's at the dragstrip.I also had a chip made from Alvin from pcmforless.com,no complaints.you will have to grind the drip tabs from the inside of the valve covers for the rockers to fit.
