Default harmonic balancer pullers

I am trying to remove my harmonic balancer on my 96 LT1. I barrowed a puller for a friend and am having problems. The holes for the three bolts to go through to attach it to the balancer are too small. Is there a special type of balancer puller needed or do they make different sizes? Any advice from the crew would help, keep in mind that the engine is still in the car so there is a clearence issue envolved also. Thanks in advance.

I just posted this awhile ago.........

I used a 4" 2-jaw puller and used spark plug socket as extension to reach inside the crank for leverage....notice how the puller nose fits beautifly under the pressure hose fitting to rack&pin.....Forget about using the 3 bolt holes as grip points.....

BTW...I bought a set of 3 pullers(2", 4" & 6") from Harbor Freight Tools for $12..
