Default New Corsa system for L98

I've installed a new Corsa 2.5" cat-back system for L98's. I found out about it by talking to the Corsa people and ordered it through Eckler's on a special jobber number, as neither list it for sale yet.

Install and fit was easy and system looks great. The sound is very pleasing with no irritating moments, which is their claim to fame. There is one snag when I am near WOT and go past 3500 rpm- I get a whistle. They are running down the problem in their R&D and promise to take care of shipping and installation of any replacement parts.

So far great service and nearly great product. I will report on the fix.

I spoke with the owner of Corsa at Sebring last month. He told me it was coming out... You must post pics.

I can host if you need!

I'm curious to see this! Any possibillity of a sound clip? I'm interested to see how the cabin noise is. They are whisper quiet on Bogus' LT1

Too bad Corsa won't listen to the end users, as there is a rather large demand for a 3" system for the LTx cars. But so far all requests have fallen on deaf ears Maybe someday they will do something seeing how they have now brought a new system out for the L98 cars.

No kidding, I would love a 3" version. I had the 2.5 before.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE!

(I should have just hit submit right here)

Even just a resonator to muffler setup since most of the 3" market uses an innumerable combination of headers and converter/non converter setups. The 3" market is also generally prepared to work with a non-bolt-on requiring some fabrication in terms of mating it to a specific cat-forward. And put a disclaimer on it to cover their butts for the following...

It goes back to them only being able to gaurantee the characteristics they promise and deliver, to a known engine combo, which is why they stick with smaller exhausts tailored to stock motors. I was told that once you get away from stock, the infinite possible engine combos prevent them from ensuring the result will be what is expected. Each engine combo will have different exhaust flow characteristics. Can't really blame them for wanting to protect their reputation, more companies should be as conscious (cough, afr, cough), excuse me :o

As an engineer, their committment to not offer one size fits all drew me to them. I love the multiple and specific sound files they post, vs generic sound files representing a whole class of cars, like Borla provides.

That's not to say I wasn't frustrated when at first I thought they didn't offer one for my specific vehicle...and would be again if I wanted 3".

I LOVE the Jibba Jabba quote.

Very nice You got any pics of the hookups in the front? That would probably be what most people are looking for. Still looks great.

As far as photo posting you need somewhere to host the images. You can do that here on CF or use a photo site like photohost.org both are free. Then you put the picture URL inbetween the [img] tags. You can get a bunch of info on this in the Forum Help section.

Correct. Thats what is going to be different in the L98 system than the regular 92-96 system. A good shot would be one of the whole system off the car or the system from below on a lift. Its cool if you don't have em though.

They offer a few versions for the C5 market. One version has no mufflers which they call their Ti Competition system, it can have mufflers easily added as well. They make a great product and their fit is usually impeccable. One day maybe they will come across and make a 3" C4 system. Besides B&B there are no other players, and with the amount of resonance that people complain about with the B&B I beleive that the demand would pay off for them. I for one would most likely sell my B&B system in favor of a Corsa. Funny thing aftermention B&B they too have their version of a RSC system for a C5, in fact it even sounds like a Corsa system. They call theirs a "PRT" system or "Purge Resonance Technology" Looks like a copy of the Corsa to me. Not sure what the make up is inside but the sound was definitly Corsa like, in fact when I first heard and seen this car I thought for sure it was a Corsa

Heck, if I only knew. If I get it up on a lift I'll snap a pic.

Well, there is another player in the C4 exhast market that offers a complete 3" systerm. Bassani. I just had their 3" system installed, and it sounds awesome. However, as with all the other exhaust systems, there is a bit of resonance with this one. I'll make another post about it this weekend when I have time to take some pics and upload them.

Would I be out of line asking what this set up cost- approx?
I also have a 90 vert - and am not real happy with the resonance tone I get from the Borla mufflers on mine. I also have been thinking of going to a header & new exhaust set up. You have a very nice looking set up.

My price was about $600 + shipping, but I don't know if that's going to be the regular cost because it was an irregular order.

I sure don't have any resonance complaints. At idle or cruise it is a low burble probably no louder than stock.

I wasn't aware that Bassani made a 3" C4 system. Post some pictures of your system if you can. I am sure others would like to see them.

Should have asked him when a 3" system will be coming out instead.

I'm with Tom. I hate the fact that I'm losing horsepower with my Corsa exhaust. But I hate the resonance that is associated with the B&B. I've even been considering rigging up my own 3" Corsa system.
