I have an 86' and i have the freeflow runners and base intake, vortec heads,474. exh/int lift comp cam, hooker headers.
i took my car to have the prom customized for my setup and the only thing the mechanic was concerned about was the cam specs. he didnt care about my heads, intake or anything. To get the best tune possible arent they supposed to factor in everything? please let me know what you guys think. any info is much appreachiated!
does anyone else know if different heads will affect the chip?
Yes it will,
When I have the car in person I do not require to know everything. The reason being is I don't use numbers set in stone, I give the car what it likes thats what matters anyway right?. Im' sure your tuner is thinking the same way.
Now if I don't have the car I must know every last detail.
the reason i ask this is because after i have all this stuff done to the car (see mods) it feels like the car is only a little bit faster. i would think after spending the thousands of dollars i would have a pretty decent change. i started wondering if maybe i either needed a newer fuel pump (current is original) or if the chip wasnt burned to get the maximum power. my next thought would be tranny. any advice will help
thanks oh yeah.....and the tuner did now use a dyno (he was the only guy in the area capable of burning the chip)
my cam is slightly lopey, you can just hear it and it idles ok but somtimes it seems like its about to die but then it doesnt (that sounds like a problem other than the cam). he didnt use a dyno is what i meant to say.
