I've heard numbers as low as 1000 RPM bandied about here on the forum (for the later LT1s) but 1500 is where my stocker has always worked. I'm installing a 3000 Vig real soon in which case I'll no longer give a flying f***.... 
BTW, I think I've heard that 52lbs. is the weight on the stock piece. The Vigilante is supposed to save 18 lbs.
