Default Idling problem

It has is a 1985 whith a stock engine. I took it for a short ride the other day and the idle was about 6-700rpm (normal) at start. Then after about 20 minutes into the ride the idle shoots up to around 1000- 1200 and stays there. This occured once before and I really did'nt take notice. All voltages at the IAC are OK. Any ideas why this is happening?

There was a similar post on here about this same topic about a week ago and it was also on the L98. The problem was was that the throttle body was dirty, so try cleaning that out. Also, check your linkage.

Check for play on the drivers side throttle shaft. The bore becomes elongated and the butterflies can stick before the shaft rest againts the min. idle adjustment screw.
Clean the TB bores while your at it
