Default Knurling valve stem guides?

What is the general concensus on "knurling" valve stem guides? Is this a short term repair? Is this as good as "new" valve guides? Is it a waste of time and money? I have the option to have a set of LT1 heads done this way or new valve guides.

Thanks,
JTHVETTE

I like to press bronze liners into the cast iron guides. If you press out the stock iron guides, the press fit is sometimes lost. This makes full bronze guides nescessary. These are very expensive. Bronzem liners are cheap and seem to work well.

knurling is a waste of time. It won't last and will have to be redone the right way.

I think you have your concensus..... I didn't even know this was done anymore. Definitely not a fix for a modern high performance engine.

After the new guides have been pressed in have them honed to size, not drilled.
