thanks mike
Double clutching is for cars or trucks that don't have syncros and not for corvettes.

Wouldn't recommend you power shift a ZF transmission as eventually you will break syncros. I used to own an F-body and power shifted every time but when I bought the Corvette I broke two syncros shifting exactly the same way.

The downside is by not powershifting you will loose about a tenth.

I thought the whole point of rev matching was to keep from dragging the rear tires when your clutch engages into the lower gear.

So, is it to speed up your input shaft to match it's new rpm so it slides in nicely without eating synchros?

Yes, matching the input shaft speed to engine rpm is a benefit, and the clutch pedal must be out, or the input shaft will not be linked to the engine. If matched exactly, the shifter will usually just fall into gear with no stress on the synchros.

You are also correct about the tires dragging. Matching revs gets the engine to the higher rpm of the lower gear BEFORE enaging the gear. If you just shift down to a drastically lower gear, the driveshaft will spin the engine faster than it was spinning in the higher gear, and the inertia of the engine will act against the drivetrain. This is known as "engine braking" and can be responsible for tires dragging if the jump in rpms is high enough.

I've been powershifting mine since Day one and not a single problem. These trannies are pretty tough, maybe yours was abused in other ways before you bought it?

Hey Mojo, how do you do such great burnouts? Do you have a line-lock of some sort or just fancy foot work?

You're tach seems to be way off. Mine hits the rev limiter just before 6k as I expect.

BTW, I'm starting a little collection of your videos to show my Mustang buddies.

Atok, I used to have a line loc, but it went bad, so I've been doing them the old fashioned way. Dumping the clutch and then holding the brake with my left foot.
