Con:
Head Gasket is gone and one cylinder has got a pretty bad tap going. Likely the cat is backed up. Interior is a little rough, drivers seat has a couple tears. Going to need new tires soon. A/C has a leak someplace and needs to be fixed and re-charged. Radio (Bose) is shot.
Pro:
Body and paint are generally good. Tranny has not had any problems. Its paid for.
Figure $2000 to do the Head Gasket and fix the tap. (I would like to do it but don't have a garage to work in). Might be worth $8000 after I get this basic work done.
Alternative is $45K or more for a new vehicle that I would actually get into. (That 06 Z06 is looking sweet)
I travel for work and only drive on weekends. Sometimes the car will sit for 2 weeks without moving.
What do you guys think? Give up or fix it and ride it out a few more years?
Save your 45k, take your $2000 you were going to use to fix the engine, put it with another $1500 and just buy a new crate motor ready to go with more power than you had brand new. I just saved you $41,500.
