Default weak brakes afte brake work

I chaged the rear brake pads on my 92 and ever since the brakes are worst, the pedal feels mushy and doesnt brake as good as it used too. any ideas why. I used the best ceramic pads available. I touched nothing else, just swap the pads and put everything back. I only replaced the rear. do I have to replace the fronts too, I wouldnt think that would matter. thanks in advance.

try bleeding the lines... I'd bank that you have some air trapped in there somewhere. Or you have a bad line

Usually mushy feel is due to air in the lines.

Perhaps whey you depressed the pistons into the calipers some air got sucked in??

In any case you could try bleeding the lines. If it's never been done it would be a good idea to flush out the old fluid anyway.

but nothing was touched. brakes worked fine before putting in new pads. no lines were tampered with or anything.

#1 the rears do very little to start with. #2 if the pedal feels mushy you have air in the system. In order to install new pads, you had to push the pistons back into the calipers. Make sure the seals or not leaking.

I disagree. I recently adjusted the rear drums on my beater and the difference was like night and day. Even if the car didn't stop any better, the pedal felt much firmer

Maybe pockets of air at the calipers? I'd try bleeding first and maybe a flush. (as suggested)
