Need help with electric door locks!
First, I am totally new to the Corvette. I just bought a '95 convt. two weeks ago and the electric door locks don't work on either door. The dealer said that they didn't have the remote for the locks...so I bought a new one...it won't lock the doors either.
I drive from Phoenix to Seattle and take the car to my local dealer to get the locks fixed. The service guy said they had looked into it and it would cost more than it is worth and that I should just throw the remote away and use the key!!!!!
My question is: where do I start to try and find the problem? Has anyone had this kind of a problem??
Bottom line: what the heck do I do now????????
Thanks for your help,
Mac
Yes, I checked every fuse in the system. I have properly programmed the remote...I can hear something "clicking" inside the dash, but still nothing works.
I can lock the doors with the key or by sliding the inside doors lock tabs, but nothing works on the power side.
By the way, I can arm and disamr the alarm system, but no door locks!
Thanks for your reply.

BTW, are you sure an aftermarket alarm wasn't removed from your car and thereby disabling the locks?
That brings up a good point....I don't know. If it had an after market alarm, there is no sign of it.
The car was a one owner with 43K on the speedo.
The remote will turn on the interior lights, make a sound inside the dash, but nothing happens with the locks.
If I "arm" it with the remote, the horns will sound when I open the door...but I never know when it is armed because of the door locks not locking.

Reason being, the "Passive Keyless Indicator" light is driven from the Power lock fuse. Since you could program the system I'm sure you could see that light flash. Obviously the P.K.E. fuse is good also. Another indicator is the clicking you're hearing from the PKE box iside the dash. The relays for the power locks are inside that box and that's what you're hearing.
Highly unlikely but there are ECB (electronic self resetting cicuit breakers) inside the lock motors and both could be open.
My first step would be to pull a door panel and verify that the voltage isn't getting to the lock motors.
If you verify that you have no voltage to the lock motors when you activate the either the manual switches or the PKE transmitter I'm afraid you're going to have to do some probing on the PKE module itself.
The power lock motors are driven directly from this module.
You need to invest in a Helm manual, there a lot of things to look for. I'm suspecting the wiring between the the PKE module and power locks, the PKE module itself, or both power lock motors are somehow inoperative.
Keep us updated.
Oh and welcome to the family!
