Default Running lean

Got the motor out of my 89 today (geez was that fun)! I pulled the aluminum heads off and took them to the engine builder as he wanted to use my heads to save me some money. He turned them over and said that the car was running too lean. The plugs and the valves were white. The car ran fine and strong. The reason for the new motor is to get rid of the vibration I had that was progressivley getting worse. He balanced the new dual mass and pressure plate to the new crank.

What are some of the causes for running lean. I recently put new Delco
injectors in and new o-rings in the fuel rails and regulator. While I have the motor out, I am going to replace what ever hoses and vacuum lines.

Thanks again!

What chip are you running? I had a Hypertech chip that I just replaced with a custom chip. The Hypertech chip had 43 degrees of advance at the higher RPM and was reducing the fuel at the same time resulting in running very lean.

I don't have a clue what chip is in the car. The car is totally stock, and I recently put replacement Delco injectors in. New O-rings in fuel rail and regulator. When I pulled my motor out, I noticed that the fuel lines were not as tight as they should have been. I did not notice a fuel leak, but I guess there could have been!
