Engine rebuild experts inside please
It used to be that cams were very precious. During WWII, the cam was the hardest part to make for any war vehicle, and that included planes, tanks, etc. The number of cams that could be made determined how many vehicles you could throw into the battle. The cam grinders were working triple shifts in the Merlin factory for the Spitfires, and they were a big part of the reason they don;t speak German in England today.But they never had enough cams. With today's technology, they are easy to make, and cheap to replace, so my advice is, put in a new cam. In your case, Corvette Kid, you had something special there, and everybody knew it. I certainly would not throw that one away!
