Is using zip ties bad for plug wires?

Thats what I use, their stuff is awesome, guaranteed for life too. I would be really careful using zipties (I would not use it for a permanent fix), with the high voltage in the wiring you are susceptible to mutual conductance, ie you may get a spark where you dont want one, that is why
1. You use spacers for parallel wires
2. Always try and run any wires that cross perpendicular to each other
3. You keep them clean
