Default MAP sensor question- the saga continues!!

Today I was getting ready to wire up my diy alky kit. I noticed that the map sensor on there had the code 039. I went to a website http://shed51.com/gm_map.htm that has info on map sensors on it. Based on what that says, it says that I have a 1 bar map sensor. What the heck!

I have the crane hi6 btm from the vortech kit hooked up to this map sensor. I've made hundreds of detonation free runs down the street with this setup, so it must be working somewhat. The light turns on for the btm when I get into boost.

Is this the map sensor supplied with the vortech kits?

I happen to have two extra 2 bar map sensors sitting around from a gen 6 dfi setup for my mustang so I'll probably swap out the 1 bar.

I am really puzzled....

Also, is the btm based on a 2 bar or 3 bar setup?

Quiketz,

The Map on the engine is a 1 bar MAP...

Your BTM should have had a 2 bar MAP attached to it... You can reattach the connector to your @ bar and connect the vacuum with a tee. I have the older MSD BTM that went straight to the vacuum.

If you are planning on running your alky injection off boost... then yes what you would do is connect up the 2 bar in parallel with your 1 bar which is what your ECM is controlling your fuel etc.

I'm running a 2 bar in parallel with the 1 bar... the 2 bar controls my Superpumper which of course supliments my fuel under boost, then I'm using a manifold pressure switch to control my alky injection...

Switching the engine to a 2 bar can be done but alot of programming would need to be done...

wayne, once again you've got me back on the right track. The two bar map sensor is mounted to the radiator housing. I tracked the wires back to it.

It's kind of funny. I always thought I was an optimist, but with this car I always assume the worst.....
