Default cam suggestions?

I want to put a cam in the 86 that is not set up for roller, and I dont want to spend the $500 to get the retrofit roller lifters. So what cam would you recomend with this setup?

86 coupe, Z51, 307s,all the freebies, Zr1 catback exhaust, zo6 injectors, adjustable fuel pressure, accel supercoil,8.8 wires, 2500 stall, k&N. Lt headers, NOS wet kit up to 150hp, 1.6 roller rockers, air pump eliminator, ported plenum, transgo shift kit

Tpis 700-135 or 700-134 (torque sectrets),
Lpe 74212 or Lpe 213.

I went with Tpis 700-135 224/224 and .495/.495 lift with 1.5 RR's and u r already have 1.6 RR's than lift will be around
.525/.525 with 1.6 RR's.

Very happy with it, i have have same setup as u have except
dart pro 200 cc heads and Accel base/runner setup and 3.54 gears with pcmforless chip oh man i am verrrrrrry happy lots and
tons of power little lopey idle (like that muscle feeling),
i have not done dyno yet cuz still in breaking procedure
probably in 2 weeks i will take journey to alvin (pcmforless)
for more dyno tuning heck its only 4 hrs drive from atlanta.

sami.

vette-rookie,
sami85L98's set up sounds good, however if you still have your standard heads you will be limited in valve lift before your spring retainers hit the top of your valve guides. This is commonly about 0.480" maximum, I'm sure there will be exceptions to every rule, but on one 305ci engine I built, I couldn't even go that much without cutting the top of the guides a tadd. However I haven't heard anyone on the forum having that problem with a vette head. I guess what I am saying is you need to check this, but don't be put off.
If you don't want to take the heads off, I believe some have had good results with the Lingenfelter 74212 (214*/224* .443"/.465") . There is also the 74213 (224*/234* .465"/.488"), but I think this is recommended for a 383ci+ engine and won't fit with your 1.6 rockers. The 74213 will give you .472"/.496" lift with your 1.6 rockers, so you would have to check you have the clearance for this combination. You might be lucky. You need a MINIMUM of 0.050" retainer to seal/guide clearance. Let us know what you pick.

Thanks guys, both your post were very helpful. Ive been kicking around the Idea of getting a set of heads for it. I guess it would be wise to make that choice before I complete the cam install.
