Default Broken Cable Hood Release

I broke the hood release cable, and have the tool to manually release the hood, but don't have the instructions for the tools use. Can anyone direct me to the instructions, or provide a set so I can open my hood to replace the broken cable?

The problem with the tool as it is akin to trying to put a plug in a wall socket in the dark!

basically you need to fish the tool under the hood ( near the windshield) and try to find the offending hood latch. When you do, you twist the tool a bit to insert it into the latch. Once in place you twist it about 45 degrees to pop the latch.... sound easy, but you are likely to scratch a few things and take a while to find the correct spot.

A number of posts have been on removing the front wheel and the wheel well and using a long handled screw driver to release the latch from below.

Are you sure you broke the cable. I thought I did on my 91 and spent untold hours pulling wheel wells off just to find that all I did was break the latch handle. When I determined this i located the two cables that were attached to the handle and pulled them to release the hood. Just a thought.

I haven't had this problem, but have heard of the handle problem several times. It's definitely worth a look.

And when you do open it, hook up a cable like this, so it doesn't happen again

I thought of that right after I took the wheel and wheel well off, to get to the latch

Its amazing that GM didn't have a alternate way to open a stuck hood, it seems to happen often.
