Default Keeping a #'d performance car

What is the limit of enhancing the stock lt1 heads, intake, and block to keep a #'d car. Vettes go up in price the older that get and I have a low mileage showroom condition '94 that i got for a steal. I already have a problem beign a boost junky , so is it worth doign the machine work on the stock components to get the HP numbers i would like?

Take your number matching engine out...put in the high performing engine you want. Otherwise you are limited to heads/cam/exhaust without getting too much into the engine...and depending on the level of performance you want, that may not be enough for you. You could always get something like a 383 shortblock and take your top end off, and swap it over to the short block...that way you have you original numbers matching block 100% stock.

Personally I don't look at these cars as an investment, I look at it as a money draining toy...but one I love to play with!

Don't expect any of the basic C4 cars to every appreciate much. The few that *miight* will be the pace car versions, the ZR1s, the 1996 Grand Sport and perhaps the 1996 Collector Edition. I may have miissed a few specialty cars in the C4 era, but, a standard run of the mill 94 LT1 will not be a collectors item.

Look at the 78 pace car, people paid huge sums over the sticker price, stored them and now they don't bring a lot of money...

Modify it, fix it the way YOU want it, and be done with it. It is just a car.

The previous posts are right. Unless you like to hang out at shows for trophies, you're hurting yourself by trying to keep to the old #'s thing. If its still really important to you (for whatever reason), the idea of pulling yours out and putting another setup in is the way to go

thanks guys. Its not really that important to me. I am more of building a car to fit me than me fitting the car. I did lose alot of money in a car i have rebuilt so am just asking questions.

Numbers matching won't make your car any more valuable in your lifetime. At least not enough to change your mod strategy.
