Ignition timing question
I am running a TPI 383 in my C3. I am having questions about timing verse running hot. I dont have a dial back timing light to find total advance. This is what I have done. A 8 inch balancer has a circufrunce of about 25.2. If I divide by 10 I get 2.52 inchs. If 360* divided by 10 is 36*. I figure if I mark the dampner about 2.5 inchs from the TDC mark then at 3500 rpm I should have the new mark at the 0* on ther timing tab. NOW when I do this the best I get is about 16*, the timing mark on ther dampner is just at the edge of the timong tab.

You can't check the total centrifugal advance on a computer car like you used to in the old days with a mechanical distributor. At any checking rpm, the TPS and MAP or MAF prevent the ECM from utilizing PE timing. The only way to determine your WOT timing curve is to read your chip.
