115,00 miles on car. Had a Service Engine Soon light on. Went to dealer for diagnostic and tune up. O2 sensors needing replacing. I replaced them myself. Bosch's from autozone. The car ran excellent after that. Service Engine light went out. Went overseas to blast the Taliban for 5 months.(USAF) Wife started and drove car twice a week. Car was stumbling and backfiring when I got back last week. Got the injectors cleaned and all that by a shop. It runs okay but not the same. It seems to bottom out at 4000 rpm and occasionally make a small backfire on downshifting. Nowhere near as much power as it had right after I changed the O2 sensors before though. Help!!
Ill take 2 guesses. 1. could it be water in the gas? If it set with a partial tank of gas while you were gone it could condensate in the tank and build up. 2. I would check gas pressure while running and see if it is dropping off. If it is it may be a fuel filter stopping up.
I did put a bottle of stp water remover in the tank but it didn't get put in the next tank of gas my wife put in after a couple of months. I'll change out the filter and see what happens.
Well the filter is a royal pain to change on these. If you do, try to get the gas as low as possible in the tank and elevate the front end as much as possible. But even before doing that, take a pressure gage reading at the higher rpms under a load.
