4+3 shift **** Removal

I know it sounds silly - I need to take the shift **** off - so I can get to the boot. Just twists off right? But I'm too weak to make it move - anybody have any secrets ? Pipe wrench? Channell locks?

And what about the OD activation button? do you pop that off and disconect some wire somewhere to take the **** off?

I beeive there is a C- clip in there...Get a pair of pilers and yank that off, then just twist off.....Been a few years since I had a 4+3, so I could be wrong
