Anyone had any experience with getting a wheel alignment on their C4?
I was looking into having some new shocks put on my car and also wanted a 4 wheel alignment and camber check done. The labor on the alignment work was going to be over $250.
Is this reasonable?? Seems a bit high to me.

Belle Tire does it for about $59 (for a 4 wheel alignment) and then $75/hr additional if required. They have the latest Hunter machines, will set the car up to your specs and even align the car with you in the driver seat. I got this info from a member of our corvette club and I intend to try Belle Tire out myself in early June.
BTW, if you look at the Helms manual, C4s are really pretty simple and straight forward. If you had a hunter machine, you could probably do it yourself (not that I would).
thats expensive man! i paid bout $150 for life time alignment at Firestone. Its a big chain and i can get it done anywhere. plus i got it done 3 weeks ago when i got new wheels, and i'm going to go do it now again cause i lowered car yesterday. i think its worth it.
You should be able to get a reputable shop to do a complete 4-wheel alignment (the only way it should be done!) for around $65-$80.
Shocks are simple enough that you might want to do them yourself. The bet bang for the buck on shocks is the KYB Gas-A-Just shocks from Summit Racing www.summitracing.com at about $29 each. It's a good shock for street use and maybe just a bit stiffer than the base Bilsteins which run around $75 each.
Thanks to everyone for the input!! I figured this guy was adding the special "Corvette premium". I just had new Kumho 712s installed and wanted to make sure I don't get the poor treadwear I had on the GSCs that came off.
I've been tempted to buy the shocks and install them myself as suggested. Unfortunately, my schedule is such that I tend to buy things and not get around to installing them for a few months. (I have had a set of new plugs sitting in the toolbox for about 4 weeks ) It's also tough trying to decide on new shocks as there are so many opinions out there. I have some good and bad about the KYBs. It's all personal preference.
I thought about Firestone as well, but I am always concerned when it comes to a high performance car. My daily driver Alero would be no big deal.
i guess it all depends on the place. these guys test fitted the wheels i bought and called the manufacture tellign them they wont fit. then i told them i'd buy tires from them. they were too high, bought them online. they still mounted them and junk for cheaper then anywhere else and i bought lifetime alignment. i just today brought it there told them i lowered it so i want it realaigned... i'm sure most places wouldve tried to void my plan. i also had them tighten up the bolts and put new cotter pins, they did it for free. but like i've said, i've been to places that charge me for putting air in the tire.

I got mine done at a Buick dealer the last time for $65. The guy was very meticulous and did a great job. He'll get the job again when the latest round of suspension work and upgrades are done.

This why I went to discount tire, guys at belle SAID they have the hunter they had a bunch of
After 15 yrs. doing buiss. w/them and then to be lied to (6+oz. on ea. rim!) making excuses for rims etc.
I looked on line (hunter web site), and in my area, ALL discounts, two GM dealers and on custom shop were the only ones that had a roadforce 2700. Hunter makes other machines, but the 2700 is the one for rim matching etc.
Belle lost a customer over this (me anyways) by the way my max. weight on the rims one @11/2 two fronts at 1/4 oz.
Sorry for a little rant on your thread just dont want to see anyone else have to go through additional crap like I did
