My mechanic sent mine to www.instrumentclusters.com. They turned it around within a couple days. I've had it for about a week so far and everything works fine.
Wasn't there a tech tip section or a website that showed how to check and do minor repairs on the clusters? If so does anyone know the links. I performed a search on CF but didn't find anything.
I agree with the others... give it a shot and try to fix it yourself first- some problems are really simple (use the above links or check tech tips).
I tried all that, but it turned out the power supply on mine was shot (something I couldn't fix), so I took it to the local chevy dealership- and they sent it away to get fixed $200 with a one year warranty...
Where is a reliable LCD digital dash repair facility? I found a couple on the internet, but I want some feed back from you guys.
When I was having a strange problem with my tach (caused by an Accel coil) I sent my dash to them. They bench tested it, spoke with me on the phone about the problem and retrun shipped the dash afterwards all without charging me a dime !!
I just ordered a whole replacement cluster from the local Chevy dealer today. Both my speedo and tach LCD's were badly cracked. Cost was $650 Cdn with my core. Works out to approx $515 US. Has a 1 year warranty and if anything goes wrong I just take it around the corner to the dealer
I did take the cluster out of the car and completely disassembled it to see if I could fix it myself. Iy was easy to remove and take apart/put back together. I wouldn't hesitate to try to fix it yourself first. As long as the LCD's are good, replacing bulbs and cleaning connectors can solve many problems.
1 purchased 2 brand new LCD panels off of Ebay for $80 each and a perfect second hand center LCD for $60 and a working but sun damaged dash from 4cRanch (what an awesome guy! - 110% honest) and for $300 I now have a fully working spare with brand new speedo and tach LCDs.
Worth keeping your eyes open for those LCDs on Ebay as I know he had more.
