84 auto shift ****

boy, need some help. does anybody know how to get the automatic shift lever **** off? i have looked and looked in my manuals and can't find HOW. can anyone either tell me how to do it or where to look for instructions. man am i flustrated......

pry the button off. it should pop off easily. then there is a c clip inside. will need a needle nose plyer or c lip plyer.

Don't be surprised if you have to use quite a bit of force to get the **** off after you remove the C clip. When I took the **** off my '84, I wound up using a block of 2 x 4 and a hammer!
