My '96 cpe is having a/c problems. The problem is that no air comes out of the dash outlets in any situation. Cool air only comes out in the foot well and against the windsheild. The lights above each symbol comes on, but the air does not shift to the correct vent (dash). Any ideas on what could be wrong with my automatic control a/c unit? Is it the control unit? The vents stuck in one position? Help!!
I they didn't change the design from '88 - the auto air direct door is not working. This is the device that does it ...
This picture is from the passenger side with the dash (and a few other parts removed) . What usually happens is that the little white puck lets go of the rod.
Sorry, wish I had more detail on that but I don't. All I know is that the culprit is often the A/C programmer. If anyone DOES have any procedure on how to test the thing, or a how-to on replacing it, I'd love to see it.
Here's that link to my fix and some other posters suggestions. 96's seem to delvelop this problem frequently. It's that dam vacuum manifold on the programmer located just above the gas pedal. It's a real pain the a$$ to get to.
