Default headers and y pipe for 1988?
I am looking for headers and a ypipe to fit my 88. Any help please. Have a new motor going in next week.

Hooker 2149 and 16720 Y-pipe, get it from Summit.

Or TPiS, website is same name.

Stainless works has a 1 5/8 stainless header on their website now. Hooker, Hedman, TPIS, SS works, EM, all make headers. There are probably a few otheres that do as well. EM and CC have Y pipes.

will headers improve performance or ruin it by making the engine lean?

The better it can breath, the more power it can make.

The O2 adjusts the fuel mix, dont worry about it being lean.

Headers are proven to provide 10-15hp.
