A/C compressor not working

My A/C compressor just stopped working on my 91. Of course it happened on the hottest day of the year with my new girlfriend. Great 1st impression..too bad, i love my vette....Anyway, while trouble shooting the system i noticed that the compressor doesn't come on at all, no matter what...there are a bunch of switches attached to the system...other than the compressor being shot, does anyone know if any of the surrounding switches play a role in turning on the compressor..any ideas. Thanks

First check the Freo pressure..if it's low the Low Pressure cut off switch won't allow it to come on unless you add freon..next, could be a relay..see if you have 12 volts at the compressor... if you don't could be a switch problem..this could get you going...have a shop manual...do trouble shooting....
