Default seatbelt light

Does anyone know how to get rid of the seatbelt light on the dash. I've tried a few things but nothing has seemed to work? Any help would be great! I have a 90.

On my '88 the electrical connector is at the right rear of the driver's seat.

Try jumpering that connector to ground and see if the light goes out. When you buckle the belt the belt should complete the circuit to ground.

You have the all to common issue present on the 90 cars. Air bags were just introduced and Chevy had a lot of learning to do. One of them was proper grounding on the sensors on the frame. The 91 cars were made with dielectic grease to keep water from corroding the signal.

So when you have a fault, the infl rest light comes on, and the seatbelt light as a secondary warning. Pull the console apart, and get into the DIC and fix the bulb first of all. Then get the codes for the SIR system, and repair from there.

LOL, it is easy, once you know the answers on what is causing it and how to fix it.

Jimmers before you go pulling the dash apart. Disconnect the battery first. Then pull back the carpet on both sides down by your feet. You will see a connector coming through the firewall (looks like a barrel plug) It will have a Yellow covering over the wire. Pull the plug apart. You will see three pins inside the plug coming from the engine compartment. You will see a small notch in the plug hold it so it's facing down. Pin #1 at top Pin #2 lower left and Pin #3 lower right. Now take a OHM Meter and test pins 1 and 2 they should OHM at around 10,000 or so 1 and 3 same thing but 2 and 3 less than 1 OHM. If any of these readings are off your frame sensor or sensors are bad. If they both come up to spec then the main DERM is bad behind the Dash. Most times it's the frame sensor that goes bad. See what code it flashes out first before doing any of the above things. I've fixed three 90 Vettes with this problem including mine. It's a pretty easy fix JIMMERS let me know whats up and i'll help ya through it. You could also lend my code clearing tool to clear out the trouble codes after ya get it fixed. I'll send it to ya PIPE

Kind of hard to see what code flashes when the bulb has been removed.
