If i pull my Y and replace it with a precatless (yeah i just invented that word) will i throw codes? I want to leave the main cat and may replace it with a high flow but i was wondering if i could pick up some easy HP without much hassle.
You really should just save yourself alot of heartache in the future by the clearing of your vision of what you want to do now. You know, hind site is 20/20. When you look back it will be clear and you will not be dissapointed then if you do it right now.
Just my opinion based on my experience. I got rid of my precats in hopes of achieving a nice gain and was dissapointed and ended up biting the bullet and getting these and did it right. I'm very pleased now.

Here's mine installed. You can see how hookers Y pipe is sized perfect to fill gap between the Hooker 2149 headers and the cat.
I`m thinking about getting these for my `87. How is the access to the oil filter--- looks tight. Also how is the access to the starter if the need ever comes to change it??

Access to both is much better now. The pic of the oil filter is misleading, there's a ton of room.
The starter easily unbolts and slides through this hole passed the trans cooler lines and header. Much easier than before. Please ignore the hand smudges on header as this pic was taken right after install and I hadn't wiped 'em down yet.
